When you consider it’s a natural substance dug out of the very earth, it’s not that far a stretch to realize just how much energy might be pulsating from a simple piece of jewelry.

Every natural substance has a unique vibration that creates an energy field. When you pair metal with crystals, symbols, herbs and fabrics you create a combination that resonates with your personal energy. Try not to overthink this but be aware that most jewelry is made from a combination of metals, jewelry will usually have a touch of other types of metals to make them more durable.

GOLD

Gold has been used for thousands of years as an adornment to strengthen confidence and symbolize wealth and power. You can use your gold to attract more wealth by wearing it while you envision yourself growing richer. The more pure the gold the greater the return. It isn’t necessary to have a lot of gold to do this, even specks of pure gold or gold leaf do well, this is the most common way buddhists offer to god as a tithing mentality, that to freely give to the gods ensures good fortune, health and well being.

Gold really is known to help the wearer open to wisdom that can be gained universal sources. It is great for charms, or if using gold leaf it can be incorporated into an etching, used to cover a talisman, placed as a seal or filler for any carved item to bring it to life.

SILVER

Silver is closely associated with the moon with the ability to increase sensitivity, particularly intuitive awareness allowing you to make better choices. It offers that insight which doesn’t need validation, one just knows without needing to know why or explore a bad experience as proof of a feeling.

Silver has the ability to be suspended in water which allows it to be accepted by the body on a microscopic level, bonding with your body in ways that have yet to be fully understood. This makes it a great agent for ensuring you are at one with your talisman, great for warding, enhancing and clarity in all situations.

COPPER

Copper is most definitely a conduit, it increases energetic flow and acts as a binder for different frequencies. It’s flexibility is legend allowing you to use it specifically for that if need be, it encourages commitment and the ability to maintain anything.

Wearing copper can help you improve your awareness and expand your consciousness which is not the same thing as intuition, consciousness equals mindfulness by being aware of those around you right now. It’s particularly useful in strengthening bonds between people or groups of people.

NICKEL

Inexpensive jewelry is usually made with a fair amount of nickel. It is a great metal for use in mind development, the ability to analyze situations easily and quickly. It is durable so also aids in healing the mind where letting go may be an issue in situations including, but not exclusively, emotional trauma/love crisis.

Wearing nickel can act as a detoxifier and help drain away depression, fear and anger. If you’re suffering from compulsive thoughts or dreams, it can help purge your mind of them. Wearing nickel encourages creativity and a lightness of spirit by allowing you to see the positives encouraging you to become a yes person instead of a no person.

STEEL

Steel’s energies are highly projective and associated with the planet Mars. As such, it should come as no surprise that wearing stainless steel can be a little like donning spiritual armor. If you are looking to protect yourself from psychic attacks, extreme negativity or anything that would suck the energy right out of you, stainless steel is a good option, but if you have a tendency to be feisty, you may want to limit the use of this metal.

As a supportive metal steel is great as foundational tool for any talisman, it can be marked, shaped or bonded with other metals, it is great for transforming one situation into another or a personal energy into something more rotund if you happen to be sickly or feel powerless.

TIN

Tin, or Jupiter brings health, wealth and affluence. This gain comes without effort, or as the result of favor inspired by good deeds. It creates a barrier between all that is harsh, indicating instead good cheer, genial warmth and generosity.

The property of creating a barrier makes it a great warding metal and is so easily found as food containers that you can make a marvelous talisman by dressing up your tin and filling it with the desired elements that suit your needs or spell.

BRASS

There is a reason we have the saying ‘bold as brass’, this metal instills courage. Whether it is the courage to speak or act, the courage to eliminate or move toward a dream, brass has the power of both copper and zinc and is also very easy to find with brass vases, pendants, and ritual items cheap to boot. Also known as the metal of truth it aids in seeing past dishonesty but also prohibits the use by the wearer encouraging more honest and true relationships.

Brass lends itself well to finding allies, comrades or groups that are inspirational, if you add the copper component it can bring the right people together to form a team, partnership or business. it is essentially the metal of the muse where both the creator/artist and the inspiration (muse) benefit from the relationship in their own way.

you can glue crystals onto your metals or buy second hand jewelry to make your own by changing components or putting them together, basically if it attracts you when you are thinking of your talisman, it has properties that will be beneficial to your cause. Check out crystals and gems, stones, sand, glass and indeed anything that comes to mind when you are in the process of being the alchemist in your life.
